Welthauptstadt (“World Capital”) Germania was the name Adolf Hitler gave to the projected renewal of the German capital Berlin to have been completed by 1950 in time for Berlin to host a World Fair. However, his vision for the future of Germany after the planned victory in World War II was dashed by the destruction of war. Albert Speer, “the first architect of the Third Reich”, produced many of the plans for the rebuilt city and these and the work of other architects are traced on our amazing journey through time. From the seat of Nazi Government to cultural displays of Third Reich power, from gratuitous exhibitions of nationlism to meticulously organised military might, we see it all.
