Iain Campbell

Iain Campbell, Head Tour Guide, Military History Tours Limited
Iain is a police officer with over 25 year service in London’s Met Police. Iain has worked with MHT for over 5 years and specialises in holding a deep level of local knowledge in battlefields with locations as diverse as the Wolfs Lair to Calais, from Berchesgaden to Colditz, from the Dams of the Ruhr to Stalag Luft III. There aren’t many European WW2 battlefields that Iain has not been to.
Iain often accompanies guests from the UK over to the European destinations and then acts as a Number 2 to the MHT expert in any given field. Iain liaises with the local hotels, transport providers and museums thus freeing up the expert guide’s time to concentrate purely on the guests’ experience. In addition on each trip he attends Iain also gives talks on specific areas, particularly concentrating on POWs and escape.
One of Iain’s tasks at MHT is to conduct solo reconnaissance of far flung locations in order to experience the transport, accommodation, museums etc at first hand when MHT first puts a new trip together. The Directors then return to the location to build upon Iain’s local finding before eventually offering the trip to guests. Give Iain a map, a compass and a torch and off he goes…
Iain lives in Essex with his three children.
